Are land border runs for visa renewal now doable? I’m on an STV and to be able to work I need to come back in on a 30 day visa on arrival for the non-immigrant b.
Any advice welcome

TLDR : Answer Summary
Land border runs for visa renewal are possible, as borders with Malaysia and Cambodia are open for entry and exit. However, STV holders may face scrutiny given that an STV allows up to 9 months in Thailand, which can lead authorities to question the traveler's status. An approved Thai Pass and compliance with entry requirements are necessary for those planning to enter Thailand again.
that would make sense , thanks for the clarification .

if you have been on a stv they may question you as the stv gives you up to 9 months if you do a border run then you are clearly showing that you are not a "tourist".

The borders with Malaysia and Cambodia are open for exiting and entering thailand. You need an approved thai pass and meet the other entry requirements to get in though just like if you were flying in.
if you're from one of the 51 countries that can get a 30 day visa exempt on entry then yes you get a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp.
Whether you stay over night or can come straight back is totally up to the border you're crossing at Cambodia, the RULE is clearly written when you buy a visa on arrival to Cambodia that it says you must stay 24 hours in the country. BUT some borders don't care and others want you to "dontate" to get out earlier.
There just are enough people who have done it yet to have any history, so you're in uncharted territory with most of the advice you're going to be given from before this covid shit show closed the borders 😮
hey Tod, I thought land crossings were only 15 days not 30 days like when you fly in. I remember I got caught out by this around 2007 or so, but they might have changed it back again, just thinking out loud🤔
