METV is perfect for a 6 month stay. This can be extended to make your stay longer. Then you can get a Non - O retirement visa if want to stay long term.

A Multiple Entry Tourist Visa is good for 6 months but you have to leave and re-enter after 60 days (or 90 with a 30 day extension). If you're over 50 you could look at a Non-OA visa which is good for 12 months but requires insurance, medical and a police check
