Hello everyone,

I’m an Afghan citizen and have been living and working in Bangkok for nearly 10 years through my own company.

I’d like to bring my father (60) and brother (30) to live with me. My brother has a mental disability and cannot work, and my father is retired. They simply want to stay here peacefully and travel back to Afghanistan occasionally.

As many of you know, it’s very difficult for Afghan citizens to obtain tourist visas—including for Thailand.

So I have one main question and would really appreciate your advice:

What is the best way for them to enter Thailand and stay long-term, similar to how I renew my visa annually?

Thank you in advance for your advice!

*P.S. Afghan citizens apply for Thai visas in Islamabad, Pakistan.*

you are partially wrong. You can indeed apply and get issued different visa types on Immigration inside Thailand. The process is called "change of visa type". On the following Immigration website, they list the requirements for the application to a dozen of visa-classes on Immigration inside Thailand. Just check it out yourself and STOP accusing others of not knowing their sh..t . . . . .

Your father could potentially come as a dependent of you, so his stays would be aligned with yours. Your brother is more difficult, either a Thai Privilege visa or a DTV

doesn't work like that. Dependent visa is for spouse/kids (up to 20yo). It is not for parents, siblings or any other kind of family. They will need their own visa to stay.

parents over the age of 50 also qualify for the Non-O Dependent visa if the primary person is on a Non-B
