Well…. this is the best news I’ve had in a long time. Did it by myself, took about a month and a half.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user successfully obtained their LTR visa after a month and a half of effort and shared their experience. Comments from others highlight the challenges of proving passive income for the Wealthy Pensioner category, the benefits of the LTR visa for taxes, and provide a link to apply through the Board of Investment Thailand. Clarification about the Wealthy Pensioner category being the most accessible for many expats is also discussed.

Not sure what to tell you, they were very clear in the application process that the income had to be passive and that any employment income was not counted. Of course it’s Thailand, so we all know that what individual officers and/or locations say may differ

In my experience the most difficult part is proving passive source of income (if you’re applying for wealthy pensioner). Good luck with it.

It wasn’t all that hard. Revenue Canada (Tax) statements and they were perfectly happy.

@Oliver *********
But tax statements dont really prove if its passive or by working no ?
Oliver **********

@Marc ********
Canadian tax statements (T1) break down employment income, pension income, capital gains, investment income, etc.

@Oliver *********
which embassy did you apply through?

@Michelle ********
you don't apply through an embassy, you apply with the BOI office

Congrats. Under what category did you get the LTR visa? Wealthy Retiree?
Oliver **********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Divya *********
Yes. Wealthy Pensioner LTR, but I’m a bit uncomfortable with the term. Comfortable? Yes. Wealthy? I’m not as sure
Michael ********
@Oliver *********
7k USD passive income a month is fairly wealthy for an Expat in Thailand. :)

@Oliver *********
Yes, that category is the easiest one to qualify for LTR visa. Other categories are very limited and specific.
