TLDR : Answer Summary
A tax invoice is a legally recognized document issued by an authorized dealer that details the tax amount payable for goods or services exchanged. It differs from a standard invoice, which simply indicates the amount due for transactions. Understanding this distinction can help with compliance and tax reporting.

They want to see that you have been paying tax on your income. So a tax receipt from your country showing that

this is also the second time they asked me for documents and I really don’t want to mess this up and I don’t want to give too little, or too much if that’s even possible. I can provide them invoices to clients and proof I am paying sales taxes in Canada but it may also confuse them if I add things that they are not requesting

Anonymous participant you may be right. When you issue invoices to clients do you include a tax element on the invoice. So cost of services plus tax equals invoice total type thing? Not something I've done myself as I didn't need to which is why I suggested showing your tax payments

I thought about that, but that’s clearly not what they’re asking for, they’re asking for the invoice that my company gives to a client. They are not asking for any proof that I am paying taxes in my country…

Where are you from? We do have tax invoices in my country Korea. And they're just that, tax invoices.

Why not show tax returns from your governments tax office… that would cover it.

they’re asking for tax invoices “issued to customers”

A tax invoice is a document that has been legally recognised by the relevant government authority. It has also been issued by an authorised dealer to a purchaser. It will show the tax amount payable for the exchange of any goods or services.

Whereas an invoice is a document that is issued from a buyer to a seller that shows the amount due for the goods and services that have been exchanged.

thank you for your response. I have an e-commerce website and people purchase directly from the website and then receive an invoice from Stripe (my online payment processing service). The taxes are on that invoice and this invoice is also seen as legally valid… is this sufficient? I hope so lol

Anonymous participant thanks so much for your time 🙏

Anonymous participant I think the reason they say "tax invoice" as apposed to just "invoice" is because in providing a tax invoice shows you're a legit/registered entity/business as these will have your company numbers and any tax details on, whereas an invoice could be given by anyone and not give as much detail..
James *******
Anonymous participant yeah that's what they are after, as long as it's the legal format in your country for invoicing and shows any VAT info. If I were you id give just a select few that cover that date range, not all of them.
