What does it mean when my DTV visa application status says 'finished' without any further updates?

Hello everybody I just want to enquire if anyone got same situation during their submission for DTV visa

I am a long term resident in China “ 2 years RP” and before even I start anything I called the Thai embassy in China and inquired about if a can apply for DTV and they said yes I can apply as long as I have a long term visa in China and it will take 3 months time for the process, which I didn’t have any problem for waiting.

On NOV I have applied for Muai Thai DTV program

I got 2 requests for additional documents

The 1st was the next day of submission and the second was 2 weeks later and I submitted it all required docs.

Since then it was in the pending documents check status .

I called few times during the process and emailed them to check, they just say they have received everything and Now that I have to just wait for the process.

I even called during this week and they said still 3 more days till I finish the exact 3 months time so I have to wait more . I thought I might get an answer anytime during this 3 days. Even I asked if the 3 months will count from the day of submission or uploading the required docs they said from submission date.

I knew that I can not travel abroad during the process.

So I waited patiently for the total 3 months Until today 6 Feb , I checked the website status it was mentioned “finished”.

No email of Rejection or Approval … Just the word “Finished” in the website.

I called the embassy they said that maybe the application time in the system is over which is I guess the 3 months time since the date I applied , and Couldn’t discuss anything further.

Then I sent an email but unfortunately no reply. Tried to call few times later in the evening no answer.

I really don’t know what to do now , any advice from anyone who faced same issue like this. Should I wait longer or move on with my life or what exactly I should do?

Please advice

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) related to the Muai Thai program after confirming eligibility through the Thai embassy in China. They submitted their application and received requests for additional documents, but after three months, the application status changed to 'finished' without any approval or rejection notification. The user is seeking advice from others who may have experienced similar issues with their DTV applications regarding what this status means and what steps to take next.

Personally I would have walked away when they said 3 months.

I hate to be the bearer of more bad news but Chinese new year is just around the corner and I suspect a lot of offices are starting to close shop already so you might have to wait even longer for a reply from them. I suspect this is why despite your numerous attempts to contact them, you've gotten radio silence from them.

Anonymous participant That's kind of weird as I think it usually goes into Pending Approval and then Approved from what I remember

Yes that’s the usual thing . It goes from pending to approved or rejected… but in my case after waiting for total three months it’s just “finished” … and now I really don’t know what’s next !

Still the Chinese new year will start after 10 days I don’t think it’s because of that and I have checked their holidays schedule and it’s just 3 days only

Did you apply via the consulate that oversees your area? I believe your resident card would tell you what region you receive your card for and you would apply for that specific Thai embassy/consulate.

I called them and enquired everything before I started the process, everything seemed ok and good to go … the problem now that my application in the system is just showing “finished “ Not rejected and Not Approved… I don’t know what does that mean

Anonymous participant it means the process has concluded - could mean an approval or a rejection. That is why I was asking have you checked everywhere for last emails (spam) or and download option on the dashboard. How long ago did you notice that it said “finish”?

Anonymous participant while I did my own research I found this yesterday, and I saw someone on youtube he was rejected first because he was not submitting from his own country. He then submitted again from home country and got the DTV. I have unfortunately no advise for your case as I am new to all of this.

Ok , I found my country is in the list , but we don’t have a Thai embassy in our county , so usually I should I apply where I got a long term RP as they told me , So I hold a long term residence permit in China where I applied for and I called them before applying and they said it’s ok to apply and then they asked for additional documents and I submitted . But then I got a” finished “status. After waiting for total 3 months ….. No Approval and No rejection!!!

Which I don’t know what exactly it means !

Anonymous participant Wait, you come from a country on the restricted list? Can you state which specifically? While there might not be a Thai embassy in your country, your country is assigned to a near by embassy. For example, Mongolia is assigned to Beijing. If you come from an restricted country, most likely you need to return to your home country and apply via the designated embassy

Yes , but I called them before applying and they said it’s ok to apply if I have a long term residence permit in China , plus later they asked for additional documents for two times … so if it was the country listed problem they could reject my application from first or during the process also … Now I am just hanging I don’t know if it’s rejected or approved , just “ finished “ 😅
