Trying to understand an automated reply to my visa request to Thai consulate. I submitted an online evisa request with all the required documents. Today I received an automated reply asking for Flight Itinerary to Thailand and support letter guarantee marriage status from spouse in Thai. Two questions are they asking me to prebuy plane ticket so that I can get an itinerary? I don’t understand what they are looking for (support letter….) My Thai wife and I plan to move to Thailand in July.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The automated reply from the Thai consulate is requesting a flight itinerary and a support letter from your spouse confirming your marriage. You do not need to purchase an actual plane ticket to obtain the itinerary; a travel agent can provide a draft itinerary without issuing a ticket. The support letter from your Thai wife should simply affirm your relationship, written in Thai, and can be a basic statement indicating your marriage status.

I bought a 9usd bus ticket from Bangkok to Poi Pet Cambodia and it worked to get my visa, you can do it here:

. You could even change the destination after getting the visa and use the bus

The letter from your wife stems from a few years ago when people were separating or divorcing and still using old marriage certificates as a convenient way to enter the country. Some embassies ( the one in Australia for instance) used to insist on it. It just has to say (in Thai) “Fred Smiff, passport number FS
*****
67 is still my husband, please grant him a visa” and be signed by her.

Any travel agent can give you an itinerary for flights, don't need to actually issue the tickets yet

fair enough. Most people these days find that the need for a travel agent is redundant and book direct, online. Even generating a travel itinerary, without first buying tickets is child's play
