Hey guys, so following on from my change from a Non b visa to a tourist visa. Its been decided that we are going to Nong Khai and doing the visa in Vientiane. Just wanted to double check with someone that has maybe done this recently as to what documents they require. I've read the normal Google suggestions. I've heard I also need a letter from my employer stating I've left the business? Any advice greatly appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on the necessary documents for changing from a Non-B visa to a tourist visa in Vientiane, specifically asking about an employer letter confirming their departure from a job. Commenters clarify conditions around existing visa status and requirements for the visa change.

Tobin Whiting okay then you do NOT have any extension from the immigration office you hold a year-long, multi-entry Non-B visa from a thai consulate that you bounce out and in every 90 days to get another 90 days.

You can just stamp out on your last entry (or really any entry) and go buy a new visa. There's no canceling it, there's no worry at the border etc.

Ah few. That's good to hear, was all getting very confusing for a moment there.

I asked that because IF you're on the 90 day entry you get from a Non-B (meaning you have NOT extended it at all at the immigration office) you can just leave the country and stamp out.

BUT

IF you are on an extension of stay based on employment until you actually go to the labor office and cancel your work permit, then take that receipt to the immigration office and cancel the extension I don't even think you can stamp out at a land crossing.

You need to cancel the extension BEFORE you exit the country, because just stamping out of the country doesn't cancel your extension officially

I flew to Malaysia before my year ran out, on a new passport as my old one had run out of pages. I'm now on an extension from my original non b.

The real question IS

Are you currently on the 90 day original entry of the Non-B visa

OR

Are you on an extension from the immigration office?
