Hello all,

visa changing related question for a soon to be teacher

Does anyone have experience going from Thailand to Hanoi and changing the visa from tourist to non-B there? Is there any tricky background check from the home country involved? Or anything else I should be aware of? The school advised me that Vientiane is easy.

What about Hanoi ?

Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry focuses on the experience of changing a tourist visa to a non-B visa while transitioning from Thailand to Hanoi. The poster is looking for insights about potential background checks and the overall process, with a mention that a school has indicated the process in Vientiane is easier. One comment points out that applicants need to check the requirements on the Hanoi embassy website, emphasizing the importance of verifying if an appointment is necessary, and clarifies that the applicant will be applying for a new visa rather than changing an existing one.

Look at the Hanoi embassy website, they should have the requirements. The most important thing you need to look for is if they require an appointment. Vientiane does.

Also you're not changing anything. You're applying for a brand new visa. You won't have any visa when you arrive at the embassy.
