What do I need to know about applying for an OA long-stay visa in Thailand as a US citizen over 50?

I’m over 50 and considering applying for the OA long stay visa. I have a few questions I hope you can answer:

* I’m near Boston, USA. Where’s the closest Thai consulate that processes visas?

*I have the bank balance required, but how do I get a “guarantee letter” from my bank?

*What type of medical documentation do I need?

🙏 Thanks!

bahts in their banks, that we will be afraid of touching due to visa requirements,so as they can give cheap loans with our free cash to thias to buy more pickups !

Also, Because I live in Qatar right now and do not want to fly back to US for visas, I may buy an Elite visa. You can find info about it online.

Also, I am US citizen. I've been researching insurance issues. If you send me your email by PM, I'll forward the feedback I have gotten from one agent. Very affordable compared to US policy costs, but you may also want to pay for Medicare to avoid later penalties. I will be doing more research on that issue.

My blog post on the insurance issue. Showed it to an insurance agent.

good article have seen lots of changes since 85 mostly bad unfortunately but still has its charm

I looked at OX requirements. They want 3 million baht in a Thai bank account. If my calculations are right, that's $95,000.

Yeah same here. Lots of changes in the country, some good, some bad. I wrote about some of them here:

Fully agree about the property idea. I have 10 million THB tied up in property here. It’s fairly obvious they want access to huge sums as it more or less affords them extremely cheap access to (your) cash.

Garrett Greenwald wish they allowed value of property in thailand instead of wasting money in bank account earning no interest otherwise i would get one
Michael ********
Garrett Greenwald no because people from USA can apply for them only limited countries 15 i believe. Was not insinuating rich and never asked but its an option open to him if he has those sort of funds and if he has its a very good visa.

You get a “guarantee letter” from a Thai bank. They have them as a pro forma and just add your name and details.

Sorry I’m not an American so that I don’t know. You are required to have had the requisite amount, 800K I believe, for 3 consecutive months prior to your application.

Can I get this from a US bank? I'd be applying for OA before arrival in Thailand.
