My retirement visa expires nov 30

I am going back USA FOR Holidays at end Nov

Can I get O A visa to substitution for retirement at Thai consulate NYC and do I need to just show $27000 in savings or checking/savings account?

I own condo in bkk and have Indo student going to school on ED. Visa

He files papers with condo address each semester, do I need to do TM30 for him or is it " baked" in his ED VISA papers he files each semester at immigration

Can I get multi entry visa at Thai NYC. Consulate?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking to transition from a retirement visa to a Non-Immigrant Type O-A visa while traveling back to the USA for the holidays. They inquire about applying for the visa at the Thai consulate in New York, needing to verify whether they can use funds from a US bank account to meet the 800,000 Thai baht requirement, and whether a TM30 form is needed for a student living in their condo. Comments clarify that the O-A visa can be applied for in NYC, medical certificates can be from either the USA or Thailand, and a police background check is necessary.

I lived in NYC most of my life but also Philadelphia for 2 years

SOME consulates take a medical certificate signed by a doctor from thailand BUT they all require the police background check from the US.

you're not on any visa at all but on a yearly EXTENSION OF STAY

Look at your passport, the stamp says "extension of stay permitted until" ;)

FYI...the Los Angeles Thai Consulate will accept a medical certificate from a Thai Doctor in Thailand. I do not know if NY will...as they say Med Cert from country application is made.

As far as the TM30

You either file for him, give him the documentation so he can go file on your behalf OR if he's in bangkok he can go file his own TM30 at Chaengwattana with just his lease and passport.

And you need to file a TM30 for the Student living in your Condo.

Oh and an O-A visa is ONLY sold as a multiple entry ;)

Okay, you're most likely on a yearly extension of stay from an immigration office here now.

You can certainly apply for a year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O-A (Long Stay) visa from the thai consulate in New York while you're back in the US.

That visa requires a police background check and a medical certificate BUT you can show proof of funds by using your bank in the US (you don't need the money banked in thailand).

1...How long are you in Thailand in a year?

2...Yes getting an O-A in the USA at years end a wise decision. NO money needs to be in a Thai bank. A bank balance equivalent to 800,000 Thai baht or a combination of annual earnings plus banked $$ to reach the annual 800,000 Thb. Look at the website for the O-A requirements. I used the Los Angeles Thai Consulate and highly recommend them. Friendly Staff and quick service. Even walk in available. Use the Search box on top of forum ...enter " O-A USA" and many posts from other Americans will appear with their helpful experiences.
