What do I need for proof of onward travel when flying EVA Air to Thailand?

ORIGINAL POSTER
I am flying EVA London-Bangkok at the end of December, returning end of March. One month Northern Thailand, one month Laos and the last month in Southern Thailand. What do I do about proof of onward travel? Has anyone had any experience of flying EVA? Do they even ask for proof? Would a bus ticket Non Khai-Vientiane suffice or do I need a flight ticket out of the Country? Any advice would be appreciated šŸ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
When flying with EVA Air from London to Bangkok, it's important to be aware of the onward travel requirements. While some travelers report not being asked for proof of onward travel, it's formally required according to Thai regulations. Generally, a bus ticket (e.g., Nong Khai to Vientiane) may suffice, as some travelers have used this successfully, though experiences vary. It's advisable to have a ticket for your next destination ready, either a flight or bus, especially since some airlines might not allow boarding without an onward ticket. Overall, while many have traveled without issue, having proof of onward travel can provide added security.

Train ticket Nong Khai - Vientiane will do. Price 120 baht. But why don’t you just ask EVA?

If you're starting in Northern Thailand, why not fly direct into Chiang Mai. And EVA flies to CNX.

no they dont, why on earth would eva fly direct there? They will have a code share flight, good lord you could get an eva air flight (code share) to almost anywhere in the world.

EVA has had a daily direct service (not codeshare) to CNX for some years, be it interrupted by COVID at one point. And they fly to CNX because people like visiting the place.

Bus ticket out of Thailand is as good as a fight ticket mate, before I moved here I used to purchase a 400ąøæ bus ticket out of Udon to Loas.

It's like saying, Is it OK to drive 90mph in a 70 limit zone?

Many will say Yes, I've done it several times.

You just need to have your ticket to Laos as proof. Then your ticket back to the UK the second time you enter Thailand.

Didn't fly EVA but flew China airlines, return flight was 6 weeks out. They did ask if I have a visa to stay longer than 30 days but showed them my flight to Laos so that was settle.

I flew EVA last year and my passport was throughly checked. Luckily I had a retirement visa with a reentry permit so not a problem. But look out.

I flew Eva YYZ to BKK with a return flight 5 months later. They did not ask for an onward ticket, however I did have my flight to Laos booked so it would not have been an issue.

For what it’s worth, I’ve never had one and never been asked to show it by any airline or immigration. Yes, any ticket will do. Here’s a safety net… bookonwardticket.com

Lots of people use these and never heard of anyone getting rejected. Maybe other people have, but I haven’t. Good luck.

Don’t have any experience flying with EVA, but formally an onward ticket is required within the days you’ll get stamped in for at the immigration. At the Thai embassy in London’s website is stated that a bus ticket is sufficient. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs requires an ā€œair ticket paid in fullā€ and the Royal Thai Police Immigration requires ā€œsuch as an airplane ticket.

I know several people are allowed boarding with a bus ticket without any issues, some are allowed after some discussion, but I’ve also seen some feedbacks of people denied check in only with an onward bus ticket.
