TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking for visa suggestions for a move to Koh Samui, Thailand, for an initial period of six months before purchasing property or starting a business. Community members recommend exploring various visa options including the multiple entry tourist visa (METV), which allows for nearly nine months of stay, and other long-term visa options like the LTR and Elite visas, depending on age and long-term plans.

Come on tourist visa, less hoops to jump through. Change to what you need when you get here. Cheers ๐Ÿป

A lot will depend on how long you want to be in Thailand and how old you are. If you're over 50 you could look at a visa for that, if you're only coming for a holiday get a tourist visa, if you want to be here long term and are under 50 look at the elite visa. There's also the LTR visa Many options

Look in to the option of a multiple entry tourist visa (METV). Valid for 6 months from issue. Each entry you get 60 days. Option to extend each entry for another 30 days or bounce out of Thailand for another 60 days entry.

Timing things right with your last entry just before the visa expires you can get almost 9 months from that visa.
