What are the typical processing times for DTV visa applications in Kuala Lumpur after submitting additional documents?

Hello Everyone,

I hope to get some answers here from people who have experience with KL. (I read too late that it was the worst)

I applied for the DTV on the 06.11.2025 and they requested additional documents on the 10.11.2025 since there was a weekend in between. I uploaded all the documents the same day in the evening and since then heard nothing, no additional questions or requests.

But it's been 6 working days and since KL doesn't communicate I wanted to get some realistic time frames.

How long did it take for you guys to get approved after additional documents? I've read so many different things and really want only answers from people with KL experience.

Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeking information about the approval timeframe for a DTV visa application in Kuala Lumpur after submitting additional documents. They mention having applied for the visa on November 6, 2025, and submitted the requested documents the same day, but they haven't received any updates after 6 business days. Responses from other users indicate that approvals can take anywhere from 2 weeks to longer, with one user noting a 15 business-day timeframe due to additional document requests.

Try to stay positive. KL isn’t THAT bad. Plus they have some very good shopping malls in Bukit Bintang. They’re also less intrusive in the way they scan people at the airport, using metal detectors primarily. Good too for Americans, KL also has a US Embassy which can be used to make a new passport when you run out of pages.

I thought the US did not add pages to passports these days?

Adding pages was discontinued in 2016 per Claude. After that I think they just issued thicker booklets by default.

I had an American boss in Singapore - his passport was like "War and Peace" we used to laugh at it telling him just to get a new one. He said he would if he could claim it on expenses. He might have been a Harvard MBA on bloody good salary but he did not spend money if he could avoid it. On a trip to London he used expenses for us to go to the theatre, eat at Simpsons on the Strand and a very posh sunday Roast - I was not complaining 🙂 🙂

I did it last month under remote worker. It took 15 business days. They requested additional documents twice as I had do authenticate my employment contract.

Letterhead I imagine. I used Claude to help complete supporting docs and was able to get it done without too much of a hassle.
