What are the risks of re-entering Thailand after frequent visits as a tourist?

Hello,

I am looking for recent first-hand immigration experiences from people with a similar travel history. I understand that no group can guarantee admission and that the final decision belongs to the immigration officer.

I hold a German passport. I have never overstayed and all extensions were obtained legally.

Travel history:

* 9 October 2025 – 6 January 2026: Thailand

* 6 January – 21 March 2026: Vietnam

* 21 March – 11 May 2026: Thailand

* 11 May – 14 May 2026: Hong Kong

* 14 May – 11 August 2026: Thailand, including a 30-day extension

Planned travel:

* 11 August – 15 August 2026: Vietnam

* 15 August – 6 September 2026: Thailand

* Then Greece, Germany and Bali

* 5 October – 30 November 2026: Thailand

* Then Germany for December and January

I remain officially resident in Germany and can provide proof of residence, sufficient funds, accommodation and confirmed onward flights. My partner lives in Bangkok, which explains my frequent visits. I plan to obtain an appropriate long-term visa from early 2027.

My main concern is my re-entry on 15 August. I will have spent almost 90 days in Thailand, followed by only four days in Vietnam, before returning for 22 days. My flight from Thailand to Greece on 6 September will be confirmed.

Based on recent immigration practice, how risky does this specific travel pattern appear?

I would especially appreciate reports from people who were recently questioned, referred to a supervisor, warned or denied entry at BKK or DMK with a comparable history.
Answer summary
A user with a German passport is seeking advice on the risks associated with their upcoming travel plans to Thailand, given their frequent visits in a short timeframe. They are concerned about potential immigration scrutiny upon re-entry, particularly as they anticipate spending significant time in the country. Comments suggest that their travel history may raise red flags for immigration, and advice leans towards acquiring a more suitable long-term visa as their visits seem more indicative of residence rather than tourism.

Your travel history will be a red flag to immigration, its unlikely your get in.

Paul Jones not necessarily if they believe he is abusing visa exempt and is more than a tourist, he will be denied. Of course its at the discretion of the immigration officer and there lies the uncertainty.

I don't have first-hand experience, but I follow the experiences of others in several groups. It seems that people get a warning before they are denied entry. If you look at your travel history, do you seem like a tourist? Or do you seem like you're a part-time resident? Your desire to see your partner is not really a touristic purpose. So, I think you're right to start thinking about a proper visa that matches your intentions.

The only person who can actually advise whether you will be stamped in, is the Immigration officer who will decide based on your travel history and whether they consider you a tourist, or not. You are best to have a backup plan, as well review other visa options on the Thai Embassy website.

You are travelling and visiting a partner. Have onward ticket and proof of funds. No worries. Thailand still loves tourists.

If they question you, you have the answers right here

Looking at your history you stand a good chance of being denied entry, even the 1st trip if you plan to enter visa exempt. Get an appropriate visa
