Confusion about proof of funds / seasoning of funds when applying for Non-O visa thru a thai consulate abroad via the eVisa online system
It appears from recent posts that people are confused about proof of funds versus seasoning of funds when applying for a Non-O visa (marriage or thai child or retirement) from a thai consulate in another country..
People are reading into the eVisa requirements something that is not there..
No where on the eVisa website does it state that the required funds have to be banked for 3 months (not the 800K or the 400K)😲
All it states is you provide 3 months of bank statements. The required funds have to show on the balance of the account the day you submit the application.
Also if you're getting the initial 90 day Non-O visa in your country before you wing your way here you don't need to have it in a thai bank account, you can use the bank account in your country as proof of funds for the eVisa application no issue at all.
NOTE; you will need to transfer the funds in to a thai bank account in your name only once you're here so it can season and you can get your yearly extension from your immigration office but that's another issue
Now as far as can you use a brokerage account, or this or that account other than a "traditional" bank account that would be embassy specific, some people have used them and been approved, some have used them and been denied..
I mostly just wanted to clear up the misconception where people are reading that the whole amount of funds need to be in the bank account for 3 months when all it really states is you provide 3 months of bank statements when you apply
As far as filling out the online application;
GO SLOW (it's not a race) take your time, check the data you enter, check the data that auto-fills when you scan the MRZ page of your passport, correct any errors, upload what they want, where they want it, combine files together for one upload when you need to (watch the file size).
Data entry errors result in an automatic cancellation of the application, you forfeit the funds and have to apply/pay again.
Best of luck with your application process,
