Has anyone managed to open a USD account with Bangkok Bank or Krungsri ?

If so are there any monthly fees and are the USD to THB exchange rates competitive with say Super Rich ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Several expats shared their experiences opening USD accounts with Bangkok Bank and outlined the related fees and conditions. For Bangkok Bank, a Foreign Currency Deposit (FCD) account requires a minimum initial deposit of $1000. Monthly fees apply if the account balance falls below $250. The exchange rate for conversions is slightly better than that of Super Rich, but a 1% fee applies for withdrawals in USD. Direct deposits are limited to SWIFT transfers or cash deposits.

I have a FCD account with Bangkok Bank in US dollars. It takes at least US$1000 to open, then as long as you do not let the balance drop below US$250 there is no monthly fee. If the balance drops below US$250 then there is a $10 monthly fee. The exchange rate used, when you want to convert dollars into baht is the bank TT rate, that is a few satang better than SuperRich exchange rate. Having this FCD account together with a Charles Schwab brokerage account is the best and cheapest way to transfer money into Thailand. There is no fee to convert dollars into baht and deposit into your regular account. You can withdraw dollars, but there is a 1% fee. If you have your foreign banking set up correctly it is the best way to move money into Thailand, then converting it into baht at your convenience at the best bank exchange rate. Just remember, it takes $1000 minimum in the currency you want the account in. They will not open one with baht. It must be foreign currency. Currently the only way to get dollars direct deposited into the FCD account is by a SWIFT transfer, or an actual cash deposit.

@Kool ******
thanks very much, greatly appreciated.

Is there any fee to send USD outside Thailand ?

And can the USD to THB conversion be done within the app, or does it have to be done at a branch ?

Exchange rate is lower, last time I looked it was about 1 baht/$ lower than googles exchange rate. There's also a 1% fee to withdraw money from the account, and if I remember correctly, you can't withdraw USD, you have to convert it.
