What are the requirements and costs for a PGCE program in Thailand and its relevance in the educational job market?

Hey so I finished my Psychology degree in 2019 and heard about this PGCE that would be considered similar or on par as a teaching degree? (Not Thailand specific here)

I studied "Long-Distance Part time through UNISA (The University of South Africa) without any major issues, i was surprised how quickly my books got posted and how they had, who i presumed, where specific staff members working at the South African Embassy in Bangkok monitoring etc.

Anyways as I had mentioned earlier I would like to further my studies and hopefully start by 2023. And I reckoned that doing a short course like a PGCE which I had heard was only 1 year long and then basically have 2 degrees. Or at least a very highly accredited transcript like a PGCE.would be perfect.

i Iheard that UNISA will stop this PGCE course at some time in the near future, any ideas on when it will be? And another question is about the price? How much would this course cost for the 1 year, seeing as it can be done in 1 year.

Other options or degrees to look into which fits in with my psychology degree/teaching/HR. Or perhaps other institutions who also offer a PGCE which I could complete here in Thailand?

I live in Thailand by the way, just for those still wondering.

PGCE means post graduate certificate of education. It is not a ‘2nd degree’. Holding one is pretty much essential to get work teaching in a reputable international school in Thailand. It would be of no use whatsoever in clinical psychology.

The fact remains that PGCE is a teaching qualification.

you don't need a second degree all you need is a Psychology degree but people Study further to help with getting accepted into Clinical.. so perhaps my wording was wrong

You can do an IPGSE online, but you need to be able to do the practical side in a school. You would do this because you want to be a teacher!!

Sounds like a complete waste of time and money. Your native language and passport hold more weight in south east Asia compared to your educational background. Most countries legally require a 4 year degree, Vietnam requires a "teaching certificate" for non educational degrees, and a TEFLE is sufficient which costs $100 and can be done online in an hour.

University teaching positions in Thailand require a Masters degree, and there's almost no market for mental health/psychology education in SEA.

my goal is to get into Clinical Psychology z it's very difficult to get in back with all my years teaching in Thailand adding to my experience in working with people who you dont fully understand, getting a 2nd degree also apparently helps with being admitted into the program

none of this is true...in order to work.in any credible intl school in Thailand you must have a license or certificate in teaching in addition to a bachelor's degree at minimum...similarly, every credible intl school in Thailand offers psychology as a course offering and as there are so few credentialed folks in this arena it's in high demand
