TLDR : Answer Summary
Several expats shared recent experiences with soft power visa applications in Hanoi. There have been a number of approvals, including successes noted by individuals in cooking schools. Some faced delays or scrutiny from immigration upon returning to Thailand, underscoring increased monitoring of visa applications and the need for documentation to support one's stay. Issues vary by nationality, and assistance has been offered informally to ensure correct application submissions.
Yes, recently approved in Hanoi for soft power. Got thrown in immigration jail on the way back in though. They did whatever investigation and I was released back into Thailand.
Anonymous participant I was in there probably a couple of hours. Yes it was a nightmare, but a good story to tell though lol. They wanted to check my bank account to make sure I can support myself during my stay. Even though I had already provided those documents in Hanoi. They are scrutinizing people abusing the visa system. I was told by one of the immigration officers that they are getting a lot of abuse from the ed visa and visa on arrivals.
