Hey folks,

My wife and I are going on DTV (she’s main applicant, 1 year cooking school). We submitted her application 7/3 (online through NYC consulate, heard back fairly quickly about some additional documents needed and now status has been “pending approval” since 7/5) with her classes starting on 9/1. Anyone have a general timeline recently of being approved in NYC? Do they take upcoming flights and class start date into consideration?

I applied april 27th through nyc. With intended cooking class starting in June 1st. We got approved June 12. They are known to be slowest. Communicating with them through fb messenger is easiest and fastest.

Anonymous participant these schools know how the embassy works. Therefore they are very flexible. We changed both my husband's cooking and class and my adult son's muay thai classes. They both warned me that nyc takes long so they are aware. Keep all info submitted to embassy the same. No need to let them know you reschedule classes. Nyc is not strict they just want to see the 500,000 baht for each dependent. Good luck 👍🏽 happy to answer any other questions.

Also after my husband was approved, we did same day dependents visa. And we were approved 2 weeks later. So the entire process for us took 2 months about 8 weeks.

Be patient...the NYC Thai Consulate is known for its slower processing of the DTV.

I appreciate that… planned flights for August 18th. Looks like they’ll be pushed as we haven’t been able to submit my application as well until my wife is approved.

Thankfully we booked flexible so we will be losing just a few hundred dollars compared to the entire purchase
