Hi all, great group, very informative, I am considering the 5 year Elite Visa, does anyone have this and have any advice? Not worried about the cost/benefit analysis, but could the Government say we don't do those anymore and you are stuffed (heard a rumour that could happen) have looked at the website and only requirement seems to be pay the 500k baht, I don't believe it is that simple, FAQ's do not say any more documents needed. If it helps, under 50 UK citizen, would really appreciate any comments, thank you all in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
This conversation revolves around the Thai 5-Year Elite Visa, with participants sharing their experiences and advice. Key points discussed include the perceived simplicity of obtaining the visa by paying 500,000 baht, alongside other practical considerations such as the requirement of a clean immigration history and background checks. Some participants express reassurance about the stability of the Elite Visa program, while others highlight the potential for policy changes that could impact its availability.

i heard rumors that all foreigners have to leave the UK after Brexit and all UK passport holders are not allowed to leave anymore. Things happen in live. Every country is allowed to change their rules. It is what it is and the crystal balls do not work at the moment.

Thailand Elite is wholey owned and operated by TAT - Tourism Authority of Thailand. It aint going anywhere... on my second PE visa with the new one being a 20 yr.

And they do a background check on you with police and immigration etc.

Also I suggest you read all the fineprints. The services they talk about such as express service through immigration, free ride to your accomedation etc, do not apply everywhere in Thailand.

One thing they told me, and that wasn't on their webpage as far as I could see, is that if you have more than one overstay during the last 3 years your application for Elite visa will be denied. Can be good to know.

The EV has made it through 2 coups, 5-6 governments, 1 regime change and countless protests, it’s the greatest survivor in all of Thailand...I would not worry about it collapsing after examining its past

Lump for 1,000,000 for 20 years.

it’s actually the best bang for the price. You will go over that price in visa runs (airfare, etc), accommodations, visa expenses etc over a 20 year span...
