What are the options for obtaining permanent residence to apply for DTV in Thailand if already deregistered from Germany?

Hello everyone 😊 Does anyone know more about the new DTV regulation from 31.08.?

A friend of mine permanently deregistered from Germany for personal reasons and is currently traveling, so he is not permanently registered anywhere at the moment.

Going back to Germany would be something he’d really like to avoid. He had his reasons for deregistering, and registering again would mean going through the whole process all over again, finding a place to live, dealing with registrations, paperwork, etc.

So there must be another possibility for people in this situation.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to obtain permanent residence status in countries such as Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia or Malaysia in order to apply for the DTV Thailand from there?

Has anyone been in a similar situation or found another solution? 🙏

You're not going to "easily obtain" permanent residence anywhere.  Even if you could, why go through the extensive process of doing so just to apply for a tourist visa (DTV)  in Thailand??  Makes no sense...Thailand is not the stairway to heaven 😂

For Laos, the main ways to get permanent residency, is by living there for 10 years, owning a business there for 5 years or supplying significant contribution to the country.

There is no quick or easy way to PR in any of the countries you have mentioned. There are qualifications like investors, marriage, or five years being there. However, it's not always PR you need. For example, in Singapore, you just need a long-term visa such as an S pass or Employment Pass, which is not PR.

No, it's not easy to get permanent residence anywhere just because you want to file a visa application. Your friend must hold a passport, he will have to return to the country of his passport and apply there

If they still have a German passport then they can fulfill the permanent residence requirement as permanent residency is an immigration status that generally allows one to live/work in a country without any visa concerns. Obviously if one is a citizen of that country then proof of citizenship would supersede that.
