Hi all. I’m looking to take my girlfriend to Cyprus to attend my sons wedding in June. She will need a visa, which looked like it can’t be done on line.

She approached a visa “company “ in soi buakow. They asked for all my confirmation of flights and hotels which I sent. (15,000) baht paid . Visa refused , then I see the” visa company “ has lied about our itinerary and claimed we were going to Paris and then Cyprus them Milan.

They sent application to French embassy. Clearly lying. Any ideas.

Time is now running short.

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses difficulties faced by a person trying to get a visa for their Thai girlfriend to attend a wedding in Cyprus due to refusal from a visa agency that misrepresented travel plans. Suggestions include applying for the visa directly at the embassy, considering travel through Turkey due to visa-free entry for Thai citizens, and the validity of a Schengen Visa for entry into Cyprus. The urgency of the situation is emphasized as the wedding date approaches.

Spain is one of the easiest Schengen visa applications

This agency probably has information that it’s easier and faster to get Schengen visa through France. Citizens of third countries can now enter Cyprus with Schengen visa. She can apply herself to Embassy of Cyprus if Thailand and ask where she can apply for visa. If she can run 2 businesses, she can sure figure it out

Since June 2014 Cyprus accepts a valid Schengen Visa (category C, double or multiple entry) equivalent to its national visa for transit through or intended stay on its territory not exceeding 90 days in any 180-day period.

that’s what I said. Visa agency tried to get her French Schengen visa and it was denied.

yep we’re together 10 years have two businesses in jomtien and land. She applied a month ago then we received the lies about our intended countries even though I sent them all the tickets and hotels. Their either stupid and incompetent or just scamming to squeeze more cash out of us.

you don't apply at the embassy any more. Everything goes through the service of VFS Global. They process the application and she might get invited for an interview at the embassy. She needs an appointment and a good reason. Cyprus is Greece and Turkey, so for the Greek part she either needs the Schengen Visitor Visa OR the Schengen Tourist visa. The two have different requirements, for which she needs all relevant information for a successful application. Like you correctly mentioned -Reason to Return, proof of own money, proof of a job, proof of vacation from the job, real estate if sho got some, etc

also not sure about VFS. The facebook site is still refering to them. But not sure.

you are right. Cyprus is member of the EU, but not yet in Schengen

Yep, and maybe direct go to the Consulate (It's not an Embassy) they have in Bangkok. Also on that page there is mentioned they do visa there 🤷‍♂️.

Ask your son to hold the wedding in the Turkish part of Cyprus, or along the Turkish coast. Thai citizens get a visa-free entry for 30 days when travelling to Turkey, so she could fly to Izmir or Instanbul and then onward to Cyprus (but NOT into the Greek part of Cyprus)
