What are the new requirements for obtaining a marriage Non-O visa in Thailand, and how does the processing time work?

Hi. So now with the new e-visa regulations, as I have read, you must show proof of funds to get marriage non-o single entry visa (90 days) too, is that right? Is that like that in all the thai consulates? Also is the processing time now 10-15 days? So what are you supposed to do? live in Laos 2 weeks?

This is the first time I have to renew my visa since the new regulations. Appreciate if someone who did it can advise and if there is a way around it. Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the new e-visa regulations for the marriage non-O single entry visa in Thailand, specifically concerning proof of funds requirement, which now seems mandatory at all Thai consulates. The processing time for the e-visa is suggested to be 10-15 business days, necessitating applicants to remain in the country during this period. It is clarified that applicants are applying for a new visa rather than renewing an existing one. Options for extensions and advice on using agents to bypass the proof of funds are also mentioned.

DM me a few agent contacts if you know. Thanks

You don't have to apply from Laos. You can get the non-O visa in your home country, or from immigration in Thailand

You're not renewing anything. You are applying for a brand new visa. All of the Thai embassies in SE Asia state a 10-15 business day processing time for e-visa. Yes you are expected to remain in the country until the visa is processed, as they may call you to the embassy for an interview or request proof that you are still inside the country at any time. The requirements are whatever the embassy website says it is, as each embassy sets their own requirements.

He's on Non O single entry.

He can get the 12 months extension for 25-40k baht without the 400k. Price depend on agent and if you have to go to them or not.

he's on a single entry he received without having bt400,000 in the bank, and from the sound of it he still doesn't have the bt400,000 now required to get another type O 90 day visa from outside of Thailand, and thus doesn't have the bt400,000 to get the one year extension.

@Maxim **********
Then the post is very confusing because he's talking about embassies and consulates which have nothing to do with an extension.

that's what my reply was aimed for. He is confusing the extension on Immigration with an application to a new 90-days Non-O visa outside of Thailand. Or maybe he thought he can get the one-year extension outside of Thailand only. Obviously nobody ever advised him on how an application to the 1-year extension of stay can be made
Maxim ***********
You always had to show the funds for 90 days Single or Multi Entry Non-O, except in Savannakhet both didn't require it until last year went Multi required it but still not single. It's possible that now even Single will require it with new e-visa regulations.

If you already have a non-O, which you extended 12 months, you don't have to do a new one. You can either extend it with the financial requirement, or use an agent for yearly extension (which by pass the proof of funds).

Ongoing rate is 25-40k baht for the 12 months extension with agent. Shop around. If you are no longer on Non-O, but came from visa exempt entry or tourist visa, to transfer to Non-O first with agent will be 15-30k baht.

than why you live in Thailand. It's the standard. Thailand is the sex capital of the world but it's illegal. Vaping is illegal but every shop sells them. It's Thailand, that's how things work. Every middle school student drives a scooter to school even though they are not legal age. You 10 yr old driving. You must be so naive to know the real thailand

And all of what you mentioned doesn’t even remotely compare to a country where all idiots have guns and let their teenage children enter schools with them to start a killing spree.

Corrupt or not, Thailand is in every way a better place than the USRA (United States of Russian America).

People from South Carolina normally believe in the creation of God, the Bible and all that rubbish. These people don't know where Switzerland is and confuse it with Sweden. In Thailand, they are trapsing around, can't use a bum giun and constantly ask for toilet paper

I don't need to bribe anybody. My yearly extension of sta costs 1900.- THB and the single re-entry permit costs 1000.- THB. I got both Thai drivers licenses and never get pulled over. I don't smoke or vape. I do not frequent gogo bars. I don't support corruption. Thailand does not force me to support corruption

that's up to how you live but don't think your are superior to way things are done. With or without farangs living here, there is still going to happen. It's their culture and you are not going to change it.

A few years ago, the Amphur boss wanted tea money for issuing a yellow housebook. I rang up my lawyer in Bangkok and passed the phone to the boss. They talked for 10 minutes. Result: I didn't have to pay anything. If you know how Thailand works, you can actually avoid corruption

@Nongnuch *******
I concur. I don’t support corruption either. Bravo!

Disgusting comment. Do you treat your wife like that too?

No, I didn’t pay for my wife. I don’t own her.

"renew my visa" ???? You need to apply to the 1-year Extension of Stay Permit from out of the 90-days stay permit you got stamped when you entered Thailand using a single entry 90-days Non-Imm-O visa. . . So in case you have no deposit in your Thai bank account over a minimum of 400,000 THB, seasoned for two months on the day of application to the "extension", or you don't have an income affidavit from your embassy over a minimum of 40,000 THB monthly, you cannot apply for the "1-year Extended Stay Permit based on being Married to a Thai Wife". You do not and cannot "extend my visa". You can only get your stay permit extended. . . . . If you are already outside of the window of time, you will need to exit Thailand and start the whole process of applying for the 90-days single entry Non-Imm-O Family Visa, again
