Funds for Non O

Guys just for clarity, can you tell me where the funds required need to be when applying for 90 day from UK. Thai or UK bank and when do the funds need to be deposited. Planning to apply at beginning of December this year, thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for the 90-day Non-O visa from the UK, the required funds must be held in your UK bank account. Applicants need to provide either: a single month statement showing at least 800,000 THB if applying as retired, or three months of statements showing a minimum income of 65,000 THB per month. The funds should ideally be in the account for at least three months before the application, and supporting documents proving the source of these funds may be requested during the application process.

I have just applied for mine and they asked for further information on seeing the 800k in my account for 3 months also. Never had that before but I gave them the information and my visa was approved. They have also changed the title of the 90 day Non O Visa. It doesn’t mention retirement anymore so is slightly confusing but still the same application process. £60 in the UK but I would suggest supplying 3 months of supporting statements for either the income or and the lump sum

Kevin O'donnell . . . .Again, a lot of misinformation and a lot of nonsense replies.

*** for the application through the e-visa online system of the Royal Thai London Embassy, to the initial 90-days single entry Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa

You can show and upload into the online application:

EITHER

original income or pension documents, which prove that you earn a monthly minimum of an equivalent of 65,000 THB

OR

3 months of account statements of a deposit of a minimum of an equivalent of 800,000 THB in ANY bank account ANYWHERE in the World, as long as you can prove it is in your sole name.

*** You enter Thailand on the Non-Imm-O visa, you will get stamped in for a 90-days stay permit. The visa itself will expire and become invalid when you enter!

*** You need to get a Thai bank account opened AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and transfer a minimum of 800,000 THB into it, because for the application to the 1-year extension of the stay permit based on retirement on Immigration, the deposit must have sat in your account for a minimum of 2 months on the day you apply.

*** you cannot use your income or pension for the financial proof in the first year extension, because for this you would need an income affidavit from your embassy in Bangkok, which they do not issue any more since 2018.

*** You need the 800K deposit in the first year, as there is no way around it.

You could start right after having opened the account to transfer from abroad into your account 65,000 THB every month, month for month, not missing a single month, and after you have collected 12 months of bank transfers, you could switch to the 12-month bank statement proof of finances for the next 1-year extension.

Greg Alexander cheers Greg, thanks for explanation as soon as I get the 90 days I will transfer from my UK bank to my Bkk bank, I have no intention of using these funds once transferred, they will stay at 800,000 until I have made the 12 consecutive month's of 65,000 which I will use for the next. Thanks Greg. I've emailed the embassy anyway as I also need to find out about passport pics as my passport pic is clean shaven whereas I have a beard so may need to shave before that

Kevin O'donnell oh yes, your updated minimum 6 months old picture should match in a certain degree the passport picture. I think it is better you get rid of the beard, to avoid any inconvience when applying

In your UK personal bank account. One month statement showing the Baht equivalent of 800k (retired) 400k (Thai marriage) or 3 months of statements showing minimum income of 65k (retired) or 40k (Thai marriage). I've used both these methods in the past

For a non immigrant O visa I'm pretty sure that's not income or saving dependent. That's when you apply for the 12 month extension in Thailand isn't it?

Dave Owen No, the Non-O is the initial 90 day visa which you can then get a Extension of Stay for 12 months on.

You need to show proof of income or savings to get the Non-O.

When I applied from the US I submitted year end tax records that showed my annual net. Those documents were accepted and my Visa was approved 2 months later. When I arrived with my 3 month Non O visa, I opened a bank account at Krungthai bank and started to deposit funds. All done in 2024. Visa renewed last December

When you apply to the uk embassy in London you will need to send them uk bank statements 3 months worth showing the required amount of money in the account 800.000 baht plus deposits of 65.000 baht per month in pounds sterling.

Robin Smith Your information is WRONG: He needs to show 3 months of account statements of a deposit of a minimum of an equivalent of 800,000 THB in ANY bank account ANYWHERE in the World, as long as he can prove it is in his sole name. It needs not be a UK bank. And it is EITHER income OR deposit, but not both

Robin Smith That's not actually correct you don't need 800,000 and monyhly deposits of 65,000 . Its either one or the other. £18,000 UK covers it .
