What are the experiences and requirements for extending a Special Tourist Visa (STV) in Thailand?

Hey all,

Might be becoming less relevant as we approach it’s end, but I’ve had my STV extension today at chonburi (jomtien) immigration. Happy to help anyone in the province who’s experiencing the same soon.

It wasn’t as stressful as I’ve read before on these type forums, but I’d say the most stressful part is how they keep constantly sending you to the copy machine, even though you have everything from the checklist which they give you at the start...? The paperwork mountain is just ridiculous.

Now on jomtien beach and having a few Shandys to cool off. Cheers 🍻

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their positive experience of extending their STV at Jomtien immigration in Chonburi, noting it was less stressful than anticipated. They mentioned the overwhelming amount of paperwork and multiple trips to a copy machine, despite having prepared all documents from the checklist. Other commenters also shared their experiences from different locations, highlighting similar document requests and confirming that the STV extension lasts 90 days.

mine is a tricky one, I am going home on day 70 of my 90 day extension, so my insurance only goes up to this date, of course they saw that straight away and have put it on my stamp that I must leave the day my insurance runs out. I’m not too bothered, but was considering staying an extra few weeks, but now that idea has gone down the toilet

Just extended my STV at Pathum Thani and had the same experience haha. But after three trips to the copy place there were no problems. They didn't ask for any documents on ASQ.

haha I think I took 4 trips 🙈 ....it’s all the stamps and pages in my passport they were insterested in, I had the paperwork for everything else.

Went to see them yesterday (in Ubon) to get a list of what’s needed when I go next week.

Rarely a cue there.

I’m staying in an Airbnb condo currently, and luckily they didn’t ask for any signatures from the rental owner, tax ID, or anything that would require me to come back another day. I saw a few months back that they were quite strict in this area, just expect to use the photocopy machine for your departure card, entry stamp and a few other things in your passport. 👌

if it’s the same list I got, they may ask you for more, for example - to make photo copies of your departure card (tm6 I think it is...?), Proof that you’ve completed quarantine, proof that you’ve been stamped into the country, and a few copies of the changes they make to your passport. I’ve also heard that chonburi is one of the worst immigration offices, so maybe they won’t be as picky at your local office

in addition to this list they wanted gov ID & house book front page of landlord. Yeah I went through this before with Chonburi Immigration in 2018 whilst staying at a AirBnB. House owner wouldn’t comply after a request from the AirBnB agents so I ended up paying Rico Visa to “get” my visa.
