Hi everyone,

I’m preparing to apply for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) and I have two quick questions:

• For the bank statement, is a PDF from the banking app acceptable or do I need bank-stamped statements?

• If I registered a freelance company less than a month ago, is it acceptable?

Thanks for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about submitting a bank statement as a PDF from a banking app for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) and whether registering a freelance company less than a month ago is acceptable. Comments suggest that while PDF statements may be acceptable, bank-stamped statements are preferred for the visa application. Additionally, having a recently registered freelance company may raise questions, and proof of operation may be necessary, such as providing a business letterhead indicating remote work eligibility. Confirmations on specific requirements were varied, stressing the importance of the context in which the application is made.

Bank-stamped statements are recommended. I submitted an official statement showing the full amount of my savings, stamped, and then they told me to send a 3-month transaction statement. I just took screenshot of the transaction and sent it as an extra doc and got approved.

You need 3 months seasoned bank account. You can make a statement that you are a freelancer/ business owner and that you are allowed to work remotely on a company letterhead. The Thai consulate accepted that from me.

Do you really think that the embassy will approve a compagny without actual documentation of business and customers.

I would like to ask you another question if you can help me. Regarding bank accounts, is it true that they close existing Thai bank accounts after obtaining a DTV visa? Thank you again for your answer.

That depends on your bank, BoT guidelines tell banks on a tourist visa you should not have a Thai bank account.

It is up to individual banks if they want to follow these guidelines and what they do with existing accounts.

When you need for some reason your Thai bank account, just choose a visa to stay in Thailand and not a tourist visa.
