TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the different types of Thai visas, specifically focusing on the retirement visas like Non-O and Non-OA. Commenters emphasize the importance of researching online, particularly through official sources like the Thai Embassy, eVisa website, or utilizing search engines such as Google. There are various opinions shared on the complexity of visa options, and the necessity for individuals to specify their plans or intentions (like retirement or work) for tailored advice. A notable mention is the Thai Elite Visa, which offers benefits such as long-term stay without the need for border runs.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

Do you see what a fool you are? Just read the comments, ridiculing you and your question.

If you state your intention then answers can be more specific.

For instance, do you intend to stay there permanently or semi-permanently, or perhaps want an extended vacation?

Are you over 50? There are specific visas that may suit you best if you are.

Do you work remotely? Then perhaps the DTV will suit.

Are you retired and wealthy? Yet another visa may suit.

Such a sweeping huge question. I suggest searching online and check out the Thai Embassy first, Visa service companies then Youtube. There is some very good info on Youtube especially. I almost forgot Grok is an excellent source.

A Google search may yield more immediate and accurate information and details. AI may answer any specific question for your circumstance. That said, it appears a retirement visa is in order. Two types would be O-A that you would obtain in your home county before arrival or a O that you would apply for in Thailand. Google the different retirement for both.

No William, the 90 day non-O must also be applied for in their home country before coming to Thailand (unless they already have a Thai bank account). It used to be possible to apply inside Thailand, but early last year they tightened up on opening accounts without a valid visa, so it's pretty much impossible without spending a lot of money on an agent. It's much simpler to get the non-O first and you then also don't need an onward flight.

You want someone to write a book and spell it out, but you can’t go on a Thai visa site. This world is doomed. Sorry I don’t have patience for people with little to no common sense.

If it bothers you so much, you take the time to answer the question in full.

No.

It's easier to direct to the embassy site, where all the info is.

You are really a sad person. Something bad must have happened to youth be so bitter. Hopefully you will get some mental help. I don't have to buy friends because in actuality I make friends pretty easy. And you hiding behind a made up FB name tells me all I need to know about you. Because you see you are actually the bully and your deflection onto other people insinuating they are rude and bitter when most of them are just asking for clarification from the OP in order to give them an accurate answer says it all.

There are many types of visas as others have said, some are expensive, but involve less paperwork in Thailand. I am going to assume what you are looking for are often called 'retirement' visa and not the expensive route.

You must apply online for visas before coming to Thailand at the embassy in your country.

Retirement visas come under the category of non-O (non immigrant - Other).

There is a 12 month visa called non-OA, it does not require you to put money in a Thai bank account, but this involves police checks and mandatory health insurance from a few approved insurers (anecdotally it seems these insurance policies are not as good as other options).

The most popular option is the non-O 90 day visa. If you choose this option, there are no police checks or mandatory insurance, but to extend your stay for 12 months, you need to open a Thai bank account and transfer 800,000 baht on arrival.

Really, and perhaps you... would you take time to explain quantum physics to me first. Just so I know you're serious. Or, find a search engine... think Google.

Frankly, if you need help finding the correct visa, Thailand may prove to be too difficult for you navigate alone.
