Thank you for accepting me to the group.

I have booked to fly to Bkk from Milan in mid January and I plan to move to Bangkok to retire and so I intend to apply for a retirement visa.

From the Thai embassy's website there are 3 types of retirement visas: NON-O, NON-OA, NON-OX.

Would anyone know what are the differences and give any pointers & suggestions so as to decide which would be best for me?

Thanks!

That is a very strange requirement from the Italian consulate, and I'm not sure what to make of it; I do not know if it's a typo

It looks like a mix of Non O and Non OA requirements. OA allows 1 year of stay. The income requirements are for the OA. Also, OA requires a higher limit for Health Insurance(3 Mil Baht).

And will you be using the Italian Consulate to get the Non-OA visa?

Hi Benjamin, thank you, much appreciated!

Just a note. The Thai Embassy website in Italy indicated the Non-OA as being multiple entry and having 1 year validity but with 3 months stay per time. Is this also the case for the Non-O? Or once you leave Thailand you have to reapply?

I have never seen a Non-OA visa with a validity of one year, but allows three months on each entry.

The Non-O visa based on being over 50 is a single entry visa that allows a person to stay for 90 days. They will have to get a one year extension of stay based on retirement to stay longer, which requires 800K THB seasoned in a Thai bank account for two months.

The Non-OA visa is a multiple entry visa that allows a person to stay for one year, and requires 800K THB in a foreign bank account in foreign currency. You can only apply for that at your home country (the country of your passport).

The Non-OX visa is a mulitple entry visa that allows a person to stay for 10 years, and requires a lot of money in a Thai bank account. Only limited nationalities can apply for this visa, and you must be in your home country (the country of your passport).

Health insurance is required for the Non-OA and Non-OX visa, however is not required for the Non-O visa
