Hi,

A friend of mine is flying back home to Sweden next month. He's staying on Koh Phangan and flying from Samui to Bangkok and then Bangkok to Gothenburg via Frankfurt with Lufthansa. What kind of covid test (if any) does he need and when at the latest? He tells me that he thinks Sweden doesn't require a covid test atm but he isn't sure. Does he need ont to be let on to the flights? Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Answer summary

A user inquires about COVID-19 testing requirements for their friend traveling from Koh Phangan, Thailand to Gothenburg, Sweden with a layover in Frankfurt. They express uncertainty about whether a COVID test is necessary, as their friend heard Sweden currently doesn't require one. Community responses suggest checking with Lufthansa and the Swedish government, noting that generally, a negative test is required within 72 hours before the first flight, though specific requirements may vary by airline and transit country.

Ok, thanks. I kind of figured out as much by myself. I've already looked there and it looks to me as you don't require any covid tests. But I'm not sure that I'm interpreting the information correctly. I was wondering if anyone had made that trip recently and knew for sure?

The best source of info would be the Swedish government website and the airline website.

The general requirement for most countries is a negative covid test taken maximum 72 hours before the 1st international flight. The type of test may vary, but RT-PCR is the most common. Some airlines have additional requirements as do some transit countries.

There are so many variables, it is best to get your info from the relevant websites.
