TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the LTR visa in Thailand, highlighting the perception of it as a temporary solution rather than a path to legal residency. Concerns about the restrictive nature of the visa policy, particularly the requirement for applicants to be employed by publicly listed corporations, are mentioned as barriers that deter potential applicants. The number of approved applications since the visa's launch appears low, leading to critiques of its design and implementation.
LONG TERM RESIDENT (LTR) VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
What a waste of time - these numbers show it's poorly designed. 2k people per year..

They set out to attract 1 MILLION high net worth individuals when they launched this great visa. Sadly, they still haven't fixed some deal-breaking details: like requiring "Work from Thailand" applicants to be employed for a publicly listed corporation. Sad, as I am sure many DTV holders would consider switching. But real high net income people that can work remotely are not directly employed with public corporations, but run their own company.
. At this rate, it will take more than 100 years to reach 1 million mark ๐

I don't know how these applicants have confidence in this draconian policy of issuing visas to stay in Thailand.
You are and always will be temporary guests to stay in the country.
Never got legal residents.
Which gives power to immigration to deportation foreigner for a small unfortunate situation ready to act harshly without complying with the final judgment of a Court.
