I am posting this separately because the earlier post I wanted to add more information to was closed too quickly (as per usual). This information may be aimed at one person, but is also advice for others who use the Thai Consulate in Vientiane

Yolande House mentioned that they are 'planning' on going to Laos on Thursday 2nd Jan for their Visa. Please bare in mind that Thursday's can get very busy for two main reasons, 1) A lot of Visa van runs go on a Thursday because of reason 2, 2) The Consulate is closed at weekends, meaning if you go on a Friday you will have to stay in Vientiane until Monday (3 nights) to collect your passport & new Visa

TLDR : Answer Summary
This post provides advice on applying for a Thai visa at the Consulate in Vientiane, particularly highlighting the challenges of busy Thursdays and the implications of weekends on the visa process. It emphasizes the importance of planning ahead and considering alternative options, such as applying for a visa in Hanoi, especially if delays are a concern.

We can not predict the future, we can not tell you which Consulate is better based on less visitors waiting line. Yes, Vientiane is close by the border, has less requirements for some visa than others, so it is busy. If you can meet all the requirements in Hanoi, be aware that company letter must than be addressed to Hanoi Consulate it would highly possible less visited than Vientiane. But maybe Adrian Quartermain can tell you how many people are in front of you if you show up on that date, I will keep this topic open, so he can post this important information, which by the way has nothing to do with Thai Visa advice.

I routinely close and delete topics that ask how long will it take at xxx consulate on yyy date to get a visa :O It's just too broad and too foolish of a question.

The answer is it takes as long as it takes and if you're there earlier in the morning to get in the queue before other people you get served faster.

There's no crystal ball, no mirror mirror on the wall that will tell you how long it'll take on a specific day.

and my post that was deleted with no comment or feedback to me? You asked for an example post that was locked too fast and I provided one. I sent you a DM. Feel free to respond in the DM and delete our drivel here.

And as we all like to help as many people with real questions about their visa, this kinds of posts get closed with a comment why it get closed.

Feedback can be honest, but sometimes people have to understand that some questions are not Thai visa related or can not be answered. But somehow some people do not like it and keep on posting the same questions over and over again. I could delete it, but I thought it might be better to explain that this question can not be answered in an honest way.

5...you can lock this one also. But again man you’re being really dismissive about honest feedback from your community. If it’s not welcomed so be it.

Matty David Please inform us how many people will stand in line thursday 2 Jan at Vientiane Thai Consulate and at Hanoi Thai Consulate? And maybe you can also link this amount of people waiting in front of a Consulate to a for me new requirement to apply for a visa?

Robert Lagas you guys are a hoot. People give honest feedback and you respond not much different than Elon Musk when told is sub was impractical. I’ll try here one more time but I have feeling you’ll delete this without comment also.

Thank you! I appreciate the information. Jan. 1 is probably a holiday, which would add to the busy-ness, I'm sure.

Has anyone gotten a non-immigrant B visa in Hanoi, Vietnam? Would that be a better option the first week of January than Vientiane? I have a friend there, so that would be easy for me in some ways, especially if there was a delay for some reason. Or is it worth it to try Vientiane for that visa? Thanks!
