Hello all! I had a health insurance question as it pertains to the non-immigrant OA retirement visa. I am approaching my first year renewal and know that I must change my CIGNA worldwide global insurance to one of the Thai approved insurances. Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations to make the gathering of information a little less tedious than going to each of the individual website and comparing? Is there a broker people use in Bangkok or is anyone knowledgeable on which if any are more widely used than the others? Are there any restrictions by certain companies versus others that I should be aware of? Just trying to gauge the differences other than the raw numbers? Much appreciated!
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around health insurance requirements for expats renewing their non-immigrant OA retirement visas in Thailand. Users are seeking recommendations for Thai-approved health insurance providers, as international policies like CIGNA are not acceptable. Several suggestions for brokers and specific insurers, such as Pacific Cross and AIA Insurance, have been provided. Additional advice includes using online comparison tools like Checkdi and resources like Brigantia Wealth for easier information gathering.

Not saying that this will happen to you but, due to my age and past medical history, my Thai health insurance underwriter excluded half my body from coverage.
Now I wish I’d gotten the Non-O retirement visa so I can self-insure myself and not pay for the expensive insurance that is almost useless.
Note that the Non-O version can only be applied for in Thailand.
Ron Pad Sorry, but the 90-days Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa can be applied from almost any country worldwide that has a Thai embassy. The 1-year retirement extension is applied for in Thailand
Hey Chipper, that is the plan for another year, but as I am just in the process of moving now and have to deal with personal family loss, it’s not something I can add onto the list. So for this year, I just need to get through the first year extension of stay without a headache in December. I’m also doing it myself because I like to learn things and prefer not to use an agent at this juncture. So just looking to solve the problem at hand. I agree with you though.
I should’ve been clearer on my initial post. These insurances must be from the TGIA list of approved insurances by immigration. This is for the non-immigrant OA, not the non-immigrant O visa. So I can’t use international insurances, or insurances that fall out of that list. That’s why I was asking for any personal experience as it pertains to THIS visa. Thanks in advance.
Paul Anthony McDermott but I don’t think AIA is one of the approved TGIA insurances for renewal, unless something has changed? I see AXA on the list, not AIA. Are you on the retirement non-immigrant OA or just using AIA independently of that?
