Hi all, Canadian on a 6 month METV. Nearing the end of our first 60 days. Will be in Kata when we need to either border bounce to get another 60 days or extend for 30.

Any thoughts on the best option while in Kata? If we extend we would then (probably) be in Krabi when we need to border bounce.

Thanks for any input.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian expat nearing the end of their first 60 days on a 6 month Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) is seeking advice on whether to border bounce for a new 60 days or extend for an additional 30 days while in Kata. The community suggests both options are viable. For an extension, visiting the local Immigration Office is recommended. Alternatively, opting for a border run to Malaysia or Myanmar is also a practical option, with multiple suggestions on the closest borders and methods to achieve this.

I think you can manage to figure out how to make it to a border while in Krabi. Post on a f/b group related to where you are in thailand and you'll get feedback. This is the thai VISA advice group, not the how can I find the nearest border group :P Good Luck,

Ranong to Myanmar is the closest option. Very easy to do. $10 note needed for Myanmar side and two copies of passport data page.

The closest spot for you to stamp in and out is Malaysia. If you want to fly there are or at least used to be flights from Phuket to Penang, do you might want to take advantage of the convenience.

I think it's a 6 of one, half dozen of another question. You can bounce out whenever you want and get another 60 days (it is "MULTIPLE ENTRY", and not "Double entry" after all). OR you can extend it and get another 30 days added to your stamp, where you can go at anytime.

As you wish, you can visit the Immigration Office for another 30 days Extension of Stay or go to a border, stamp out, stamp in/out neighbor country and stamp back into Thailand for a new 60 day period.
