The community provided various suggestions for the best apps and websites to buy flights, emphasizing that it's often best to book directly with airlines rather than through third-party sites. Popular recommendations included Skyscanner, Google Flights, Expedia, Kayak, and Momondo. Many users highlighted the importance of researching fares through comparison sites before booking directly with the airline to avoid potential issues with cancellations or changes.
Agree with all. Book directly with airline. Once booked with agents for a multi-leg flight. One of the transits was at minimum time for that particular airport. Incoming flight retimed for 10 minutes later. Asked the agent to rebook me on an earlier flight. The response was; ‘No, it’s only ten minutes difference’. Stressed me out. Never again.
I have tried booking direct to avoid third party sites, but was quoted economy return flights All over £1,000 return. but got one now for under £800 by flying from London
also I have a direct flight from London which I have never done before ? and then I will be able to decide which I prefer ? I have also flew with Qatar and had no complaints 😂
OK. similar to what I paid, I think the trick is to book at least 2-3 months before you want to fly because if you wanted to go this month the prices would be very high
Ha ha Just tried to book a flight from Manchester UK to Bangkok with Emirates and it was £4,330 economy return, the last time I flew with Emirates in 2019 I paid less than £500 and that was in high season NOV . Other airlines and skyscanner are also quoting silly prices So will leave it until later in the year when prices get back to normal ? if they ever do ?
Yes, always use the AIRLINES SITES to buy tickets, etc.
I used a couple of ‘online’ ticket sites but when I had to cancel a flight and rebook, their ‘insurance’ only gave me $200 on a $1400 ticket. Started always using the airlines sites then. Never been ‘burned’ again.
I usually just use the apps to find the cheapest flights and then go to the airline to book. I booked a flight in July for Canada. Lufthansa was the cheapest and I got the same price booking with them directly. My Itinerary changed due to canceled flights but left me with very long layover. I just called the airline and they booked me with another Carrier. Was an easy fix because I was dealing right with the airline and not a travel app.
If you need to change your flight, which I often do once in-country, it is much easier to do if you book with the airline itself. Sometimes you are bounced back and forth between the airline and travel service, each blaming the other.
If you use Skyscanner and find a cheap fare on one of the booking sites they show.. don't every use any of them.. go directly to the airlines website. Many of them are shady companies. Even Google flights shows you such sites.
Google flights…. You get the cheap price but get to book with the actual carrier… that way if your flight is changed you do not have such a huge hassle and expense changing the flights as you would booking through discount sites….
You can research fares on many great sites (one of the best: Google Flights). BUT do yourself a favor a book directly with the airline in these uncertain times.
