TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is seeking a reliable immigration lawyer in Bangkok to help obtain a retirement visa. Several commenters suggest that hiring an expensive lawyer is unnecessary for this straightforward process. They recommend using a reputable visa agent, such as Thai Visa Centre or GAM Legal, as well as suggest applying independently if the applicant meets certain financial criteria (800k in a Thai bank and age over 50). It is emphasized that familiarizing oneself with the visa requirements can simplify the process.

Are you adamant about an immigration lawyer? An agent will be much more reasonably priced and more customer oriented. You can at least check with owners of this site or One Stop in Pattaya. You can't go wrong with either one. Some people on here talk down on agents, but with the tougher regs on bank accounts and the somewhat confusing requirements, the is a lot of advantage to using an agent. And yes, there can be some pitfalls, so just make sure to use a reputable one with good reviews and a proven track record.

Itโs so easy. The only reason to hire an agent is if you donโt have qualifying funds.
well, and then you stuck with this agent forever, because he knows about the fraud and can blackmail you at any time.

Someone on here hired an 'immigration lawyer' and got swindled. You don't need them, especially at the rate they charge. Do it yourself or just get an agent. The first is cheaper, the second is easier. Good luck. Either way, you'll be fine.
since when do you need to be able to read and write your name in Thai? I got a Retirement Visa myself twice (2020 and 2021). Easy, and no one at Immigration asked me to read and write my name. I never used an agent.
not smoking anything, but sometimes wish I was lol. I guess I read it on another post and got distracted with another task and came back to the wrong post. Oh well.
You don't need an expensive lawyer. A simple visa agent will work. You are aware it is the easiest visa extension to get. Thai Visa Centre is very good
