TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the costs associated with hiring an agent for a Non-O retirement visa in Thailand, particularly focusing on the required swift payment of 800,000 baht. Responses range from cautioning against agents due to potential issues, suggesting a DIY approach as the process is straightforward if one has the necessary funds for a bank account, to mentioning quotes from agents ranging from 20,000 to 60,000 baht. Several commenters emphasize the importance of having the funds in the bank for at least 2-4 months prior to applying and offer tips on handling the visa application effectively.

you won't laugh any more when you find out that you cannot get a bank account opened on a touristic entry (which is needed for the retirement visa & extension)

Do it yourself. Using Swift has nothing to do with the 800,000 baht required and no proof of international transfer.

Really? Using SWIFT to transfer money from a large overseas bank into a Thai bank account shows like what if not as "International transfer"?

Would you considered doing it yourself? It’s pretty straightforward process. Especially that you have the required funds and willing to submit it for approval.
The only part it might be a challenge is open a bank account but it’s durable.
I am Thai and helping my friend getting his, Ive learn so much! If you have a question feel free to ask.
I did The US’s visa, PR and Citizenship for me and my children all by myself. It’s so much fun learning!
