TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses experiences related to doing a border run to Myanmar with a DTV visa. While some emphasize the ease of travel, especially by boat to Ranong, others express concerns about safety due to the ongoing civil war and changing border conditions. Additionally, there are mentions of alternative border runs to Malaysia or Vietnam, as Myanmar cannot issue Thai e-visas. Some comments highlight that the border run is primarily for obtaining a new visa stamp, with travelers only needing to briefly step onto Myanmar territory.

YellowPomelo1882 Locals in Ranong told me in March it was not safe to travel, I did not need a border run, just wanting to visit Myanmar, but decided not to go.

Yes definitely this is just for the border run. You step on Myanmar land for few mins to get the stamps and then you are on the way back

The only land border open to foreigners into Myanmar is at Ranong. Your only other choice is to fly into Mandalay or Yangon.
