TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the search for affordable DTV (Non-Immigrant O) options in Patong, Phuket, with specific emphasis on keeping costs around 15,000 baht. It mentions Phuket Hero Gym's prices as excessively high at 45,000 baht and discusses other gyms and schools that offer cheaper alternatives, such as Muay Thai Fever and PhuketKing, which offer programs for 15,000 baht. Comments suggest that some individuals find 27,000 baht too high and advocate for exploring lower-priced activities, with reference to the need for continuous activity to maintain a long-term visa.
It is expensive, especially when there are gyms & cooking schools charging 10-15k baht & you will have to do a border run in 6 months unless you still have 500.000 baht in your bank after your innitial visa apication (So 1 million baht when applying) & re-register with the school.
If you think it is expensive, maybe Thailand isn't for you. There is no guarantee you would be able to keep your visa for 5 years without having to renew your activity. As a matter of fact, immigration is already requiring to have an ongoing activity when renewing with them in the country. We also hear people getting METV/Tourist TR when trying to apply with low cost courses. And finally, there are rare cases where people are asked to show documents at the border... Not common, but that's a risk.

Participant anonyme 583 on don’t know anything about this, you only extrapolate and assume , there is plenty of 10k 15 k option out there who work just fine, You are free to be fooled and taken for an idiot. Definitly better you stay anonymous
for once I will agree with you. 27k is a fair price and that gym Fitness Hero in Patong he got the price from is actually a really nice gym. Very clean and modern with good equipment, I have trained there before.
Exactly. You can’t even get a sketchy 1-year ED visa for that price anymore.
Meanwhile, Thailand is being incredibly generous with the new DTV visas 27,000 THB for a course plus 10,000 THB for the application- totals 37,000 THB. That’s just 7,400 THB per year. And yet, some people are still out here asking for cheaper prices! 🤦♂️

Anonymer Teilnehmer 631 30k for 12months private language school. not sketchy
I’m specifically referring to sketchy ones that you don’t have to attend classes. I’m fully aware language schools that offer legitimate ED visas, however, they’re still heavily scrutinized by immigration officers and people often get questioned or even denied entrance into Thailand when they’re on those type of visas. Still, 30k per year vs 7,500 per year.. I rest my case 🤷
