What Muay Thai gym in Chiang Mai is best for DTV visa holders seeking to avoid visa abuse issues?

If I would like to apply with a Muay Thai gym in Chiang Mai that has as few people abusing the visa as possible which one would you recommend? It seems extremely common that people don’t even go to classes and if possible I would like to try to avoid being caught up in crack downs from immigration on DTV holders who signed up with gyms with many students who don’t show up for classes.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on finding a Muay Thai gym in Chiang Mai that has a low incidence of visa abuse, specifically for the DTV visa. Comments suggest considering gyms like Chiang Mai Muay Thai Gym and MuayThai Fever for their reputation and management of attendance records. There are concerns about gyms with large numbers of students not attending classes and potential scrutiny from immigration. Ultimately, gym choice might affect visa stability, with opinions divided on how much responsibility lies with the gym versus the individuals.

From my understanding the gyms have to be approved to be a sponsor of the DTV visa. That means they are subjected to filling out attendance records. There are gyms that have been faking attendance records of students and have been fined, blacklisted from sponsoring the DTV visa as well as charged with fraud..

So the gym does have a responsibility to log your attendance. I understand your worry of being caught up in a scheme because it can also effect you if immigration doesn't believe your attendance record is real.

Never heard of any gyms being caught up on crack downs from DTV visas, maybe the old ed visa but I dont even believe there is any record tracking for DTV visa. As of now

Interesting. Thanks for the response. So basically as long as the gym doesn’t try to cover for students who don’t show up and just report the truth it shouldn’t be too big of an issue for those who do show up if there are lots of others who don’t.

Anonymous participant correct. And also just be mindful there is also a gym somewhere in Phuket who scammed some tourists and took alot of money but didn't give them the DTV or their money back. the owner is some top figure in the community so they didn't get in trouble either 🤷 you can also do the paper work yourself online and ask the gym for the documents 📄😊.

Hope that helps. Good luck 🍀

If this is something you’re seriously worried about, the answer to your question will be to find the most expensive gym in your area, have fun with that.

The best is “Chiang Mai Muay Thai Gym” right in the center, hold by thai families for generations. MuayThai Fever is hold by a british and is near a highway… your choice

Right. I think the first has much less DTVs applicants than the second. They were talking about over 300 weeks ago. 🤔😏

Anonymous participant 435 because the british guy is smart and is doing fb ads. Good for him. But the 1st gym I mentioned is also providing education and dtv visa. I tried both. The first has a lot of young thai trainers with many fights on their counts. The second had 2 experienced trainers + the british guy who can give advices but not really give lesson if I remember.

Why worry what other people do you look after yourself. Keep a record of your class if you want. But the gym cannot be responsible for individuals it's not the gym responsible but the DTV holder to attend class stupid comment

I agree with you but not sure immigration will. You've some small gyms with over 400 applicants, and that's only for DTV. This may raise some attention at some point.

Anonymous participant 435 Like l said it's not the gym responsibility. Immagration will take action against the individual visa holder not the gym. It's like saying an airline is responsible for someone overstaying their visa no it's the person not the airline

but selecting a gym that has „400 applicants that dont show up“ is like a 400x chance that immigration will mark this gym as a visa mill and then you will face scrutiny on every entry to the country. that is why OP wants to find a gym with less activity 🤷‍♀️
