Hello everyone,
I need the group’s advice.
I’m planning to move to Thailand on March 1, 2027, on a Soft Power DTV visa (Muay Thai for 1 year).
I’m currently still employed, but I’ll be quitting my job at the end of the year and receiving a large severance package.
My plan is to look for a remote job and start working once I’m in Thailand in March. Of course, I’ll follow the applicable rules (no working for Thai companies, etc.).
Should I clearly state this in my cover letter for the DTV visa? In other words, that I plan to work later on, but am applying for a Soft Power DTV visa for now. Or should I avoid mentioning it?
My second question concerns the timing of my DTV visa application.
I’ve already planned a 7-week vacation in Thailand from early December through mid-January.
My plan was to apply for the DTV visa before my vacation so I could avoid having to extend my regular tourist visa if the limit is indeed reduced to 30 days.
The problem in this case would probably be the Muay Thai course. I don’t want to start it during my vacation, but rather wait until March, when I’ll be staying in Thailand for a longer period. Does anyone have any experience with how flexible Muay Thai schools are regarding the start of actual training and booking the course for the DTV paperwork? Can there be a gap of up to three months, as in this case?
But I think it would be best to apply for the visa once I'm back from my vacation, right?!
Or could this also cause problems, since I just got back from a trip to Thailand that lasted several weeks?
Thank you very much
