Should I Get a Visa for Laos Before My Trip or Use Visa On Arrival?

I’m heading back to Thailand for 30 days and may end up traveling to Laos for 7-10 days towards the end of my stay.

I’m trying to decide between obtaining my Lao visa before my trip or just getting a Visa On Arrival. If I bring my passport and two passport sized photos, is that all I should need to obtain a Visa upon arrival in Laos?

Any recommendations as far as obtaining ahead of time vs. applying on arrival to Laos?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning a trip to Laos from Thailand and is considering whether to obtain a Lao visa in advance or use the Visa On Arrival option. Comments suggest that obtaining a visa on arrival is generally straightforward if the required documents are presented, while there is also the option to get an E-Visa online for certain entry points.

Surprisingly you can get an E-Visa for Lao (buy the visa online BEFORE you show up at the border without needing to go to the Lao consulate in thialand).

It only works at SOME entry points so I'll leave it to you to figure out IF you can use it or not

Buy your Lao visa on arrival at whatever border you enter the country at you'll be fine
