Can I Get a Second Laos Visa on Arrival in the Same Year?

A question; is there any problem getting a SECOND Laos visa on arrival in the same year? I'm British and I entered Laos via the Nong Kai border last month but displeased immigration at DM when I flew back in seeking a 30-day exemption. This time I thought it would be better to fly in to Ventiane and come back overland via the nearby Friendship Bridge. I haven't entered Thailand overland before and I read the immigration officials there are more willing to give 30-day exemptions. I've already used a SETV, so I don't think I can get another one.

I believe a person can get unlimited visa on arrivals to ENTER Laos. However, this is not Laos Visa Advice, so I could be wrong.

If the question is "Is there any problems getting a second single entry tourist visa", I think the answer is maybe (but I don't think that's what you're asking)

If the question is "can I leave Thailand, and return via Friendship Bridge at Nong Kai, Thailand", the answer is maybe. You can get two visa exempt entries in a calendar year, and each entry is valid for 30 days, extendable for another 30 days at immigration.

that's what confused me too

Okay, are you asking about getting IN to Lao or asking about getting IN to Thailand?

Obviously it was your previous entry history that caused the immigration officer at the airport to be 'displeased' (that's what usually causes that).

Why would you FLY TO Lao? There is no upside to doing that. it's how you come IN to thailand that is the key. Try to do a LAND crossing. YOU are allowed TWO 30 day visa exempt entries to thailand in a calendar year by land. AND there is no limit to the number of entries you can have if you are entering on a valid tourist visa.

I'd say IF you're going all the way to Vientiane you might as well TRY to get a single entry tourist visa from the thai consulate there.

No problem, but if you displeased Immigration once, it might be time to start thinking of plan B and doing border runs at Nong Khai is not a long term solution.
