TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, universal healthcare is primarily available to Thai citizens. For expats holding a non-immigrant visa who pay taxes, the maximum cost is around 750 baht per month, with employers covering part of the cost. If not employed, individuals can pay approximately €15 monthly for comprehensive coverage. Recommendations for personal insurance include consulting with Abacus Associates or AA Insurance Brokers.

for personal insurance advice in Thailand I’d recommend speaking to AA Insurance Brokers. They can assist you with all types in insurance! Visit one of the offices or reach out at

If you are here legit with non immigrant visa and pay taxes then cost is max 750baht month. Company pay other half. If you stop working and pay ~15€ monthly it's rest of your life including all benefits what citizens get👍

so what you mean is that if you stay in Thailand over 180 days and pay taxes you’re able to get this healthcare??? Or am I wrong??

@Jeremy *******
You need WP too and work least year. When your company register you to sso there's 3month waiting time when you're not covered.

but they will charge me taxes which I will have to pay…what don’t I get this benefit?

@Jeremy *******
This system is for foreigners who live and work here. Free heart transplant, dental care etc.. 180 day paid sick live etc👌

@Pertti ************
they are making people pay taxes…so they haven’t really thought this all the way through

@Jeremy *******
where is no taxes? Here is very low taxation! Starting from zero to maximum 30% even if you earn 100mil month! I have residency and business at lower taxed country too but there's is no free healthcare or tax funded schemes and systems like here in Thailand.

@Pertti ************
now if you stay here 181 days in a calendar year you have ru pay taxes…but with zero benefits I’m assuming

@Jeremy *******
benefits are ofcourse low cost living, weather, people etc.. You live here and use infra and ofcourse you pay contribution to society. Tourist who visit here week or two leave huge amounts of money here and run this country. It's your decision if you want live here and pay taxes etc..

you dint really have a choice if you stay here 181 days…only 2 things in life are guaranteed…Death and taxes

@Jeremy *******
Guaranteed here is only great food and cheap living. Other things are optional like taxes👌 You can structure your wealth and income to tax havens and enjoy almost zero taxes but why not pay taxes? It's like you invest your safety if you live there because who knows if you lose everything tomorrow and need society help to just stay alive🙏🧠

eventually you will lose capacity to earn money or help for yourself…this doesn’t just mean old age it could be an accident as well…so why not look for a safety net for the future…

I believe Universal health care is only available to Thai citizens. Private healthcare depends on circumstances - age, previous conditions etc

@Judy ******
it is possible to get Universal Healthcare Benefits as a foreigner if you are working legally and paying taxes.
