Hi. I have a question about the Visa exemption for land travel. Is it normally 60 days or 30 days? I have 60 days by plane, but I've heard that land border travel is only for 30 days and cannot be extended. Is this true?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The standard visa exemption entry for Thailand, whether via land or air, is generally 60 days. However, there has been some confusion regarding extensions, particularly for land entries. Recent guidance indicates that land entries under visa exemption may not be eligible for extensions, while entries by air have more lenient extension possibilities, albeit inconsistently enforced. It's also mentioned that travelers with a history of denied entries may face challenges regardless of whether they are entering for tourism or other purposes.
Visa exempt entry is currently 60 days provided you are allowed to enter. But you have a long history of entering Thailand on various stamps, including having been denied entry previously, so may well have a problem entering. My advice to you is to go and get a proper visa for the purposes of your stay and if you enter Thailand on it find a way to get the 12 months extension of stay instead of perpetually trying to abuse the system.
There is no difference between the number of days you'll get when you enter by plane or by land.
Whether or not you'll be able to get an extension is more up in the air. There was a guidance issued to immigration offices late last year that said visa exempt land entries cannot get any extension, and that the 2nd extension to air entry on visa exempt will only be 7 days. In practice it's completely random on if that's enforced or not.
anyway, if we are talking. Maybe you know what will happen if they deny entry for example on land border between Malaysia and Thailand. What will be next, back to Malaysia or what?
thank you. I have not sweet history, many stamps last year and I got one denied entry 2025. But this time we will go for tourism only with friends. I don't know if this is true what people said here on this group that your story and stamps are reset every year. What do you think? If I will go for tourism they should give me exemption right?
on this forum, not far than half year ago, many people said Thailand changed the rules and on land will be only 30 days and no extension possible. Thanks for clarification.
