Is the Mae Nam Immigration Office in Samui a more efficient option for expats seeking visa extensions?

Purely as an FYI...

Visit to the still-new Immigration Officein Mae Nam on Samui today... Wow. As painless as any government interaction I have ever had in Thailand. In and out in 20 minutes. Air con. Smoking area right nearby. Comptent and nominally helpful staff. It might almost be worth it to come here and make it a day trip from BKK, considering the hellish experiences I and other members have had there... And my overstay and full-up passport? Handled discreetly and perfectly.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent visitor shared a positive experience at the Mae Nam Immigration Office in Samui, noting the efficiency of the process which took only 20 minutes. Comments from others suggested that during low season, the office operates smoothly, which contrasts with longer wait times during high season. The discussion touched on the type of visas handled, including 30-day tourist extensions, and the limitations on which immigration offices can be used depending on visa status.

Super low season Dario, they are super relaxed!!!

Go there in high season when there is a cue of an hour already they open 30 minutes later, go for lunch 30 minutes earlier and open 30 minutes after schedule.

Whatever you want it does always take more than 2-3 hours!

So you went to get a 30 day tourist extension? What is their policy with regards to this whole tm30 (isn't that what it's called?) thing?

You can only pick and choose what immigration office you want to use when you're on 30 day visa exempt or 60 days tourist visa entries.

People on long-term extensions of stays cannot go to an office other than the one that serves the area where they live (or sometimes in extensions by employment where they work).

Of course! But those that can... should. I am still weirded-out by the ease of it.
