TLDR : Answer Summary
David, who is 71 years old, inquired about the documents required for his Laos visa application as an Australian. He highlighted a request for additional documentation, specifically a Laos residence ID card, and questioned whether the visa would be in his Australian passport. Commenters suggested he refer to the passport used for his visa application and mentioned the need to submit an entry stamp.

Thanks for your response. I provided a copy of my Laos visa, but there advice (not correct) is Your visa application has been rejected. No proof of permanent residence in Laos. For Non-O-A visa you have to apply with the Embassy/Consulate where you have permanent residence. In your case, if you normally stay in Thailand, you have to apply in Australia.
That's your problem. A non-OA visa is ONLY available from your passport country or a country you are a resident of. You are not a resident of Laos, and therefore your application is rejected. You can get a 90 day non-O visa in Laos, but you cannot get a 1 year non-OA visa. Sounds like you might have selected the wrong options in the visa application.
