TLDR : Answer Summary
Concerns persist regarding the future of the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) as applicants express uncertainty. A recent confirmation from the Foreign Ministry indicates that the DTV will continue, ameliorating some fears. However, discussions highlight worries about potential double taxation and increased difficulty in obtaining the visa. Some suggest applying early to avoid risks of impending changes.

I hear that in the beginning it was super easy to get it now is getting harder. You may be rejected even if you have everything in check.

My concern is that it’s basically going to be used as a register to try and identify people who can be double taxed.

When somethings too good to be true… it usually is!? 🙁

The motivation for the DTV was that the Thai government desperately wants to grow the lagging economy, so they now want as many visitors as possible to come, and wants them to stay as long as possible.

The tax thing is another issue. It‘s something to keep an eye on for sure, but i don‘t believe that was the reason for introducing the DTV.

for me is okay to pay personal tax if you stay in Thailand more than 6 months. In almost every country is the same. The important thing is to avoid double taxation.

Well if you already know that you will need it why not apply it earlier, 3 months difference and 5 years stay. Dont risk it. I have a feeling it will change end of Oct.
