TLDR : Answer Summary
Many individuals experience symptoms of post-vacation depression after returning from a trip, particularly from a place like Thailand that is known for its vibrant culture and enjoyable experiences. The community suggests several coping strategies, such as planning the next trip, which can provide something to look forward to and alleviate feelings of sadness. Other advice includes staying connected with friends made during the trip, enjoying Thai food locally, and embracing the anticipation of traveling again. Overall, feeling down after such a fulfilling experience is normal, and actively fostering future travel plans may help mitigate these feelings.

Yes, you will notice there is a box of tissues in the back of every airport taxi to dry your tears as you leave.

Of course you are depressed , you went back to the PNW ( completely destroyed area now ) I literally just left the PNW , sold everything and moved to Thailand to stay...

Look , everywhere has its problems and things to overcome , if you have respect for the country of Thailand , the people , and the culture...........it truly is one of the most beautiful places to live πŸ™

Being on a holiday is completely different than living here though , definitely have to enjoy the culture and country , and not live in the bars and gogo's ( LIKE ALL THE COMPLAINERS DO ) and to be totally respectful and honest $3000 is a good monthly budget starting point

GOOD LUCK BROTHER πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

Think of a long term plan , do you want to live there ! Do you have money! How old are you and how much you would need , if you don’t have money , how then you need to start a pension and save for later in your life

Find a way of staying permanently if you like it so much, and don't just say it's impossible, many have come and never returned to their home land.

Very Common

Plan to return..start planning it out.. I go to Thailand 3 times a year, and always enjoy planning each trip.

Yes I suffer from that 555 so now I go to Thailand every 10 weeks to overcome it . Plus it's becoming my second home to be with my wife so I will eventually stop coming back to Australia
Bob ********
Have a look at cheap tickets, pull a sicky and go for. 4 days no luggage, sandwich on the plane, costs the same as a night out in Australia
Carlos *********
Start looking and planning your next trip. Some of it could be jet lag and adjusting to your new surroundings. Talk to friends and look at your photos,( relive the fun in memory). Hope it helps.

I can not describe the happiness i feel riding the airport link from the airport, past the greenery and older architecture, towards getting into Bangkok and what feels like an Asian New York. Getting off at Phayathai and listening to the hustle and bustle and feeling the heat. Can not put a price on that!!! Only 14 weeks to go βŒ›

@Dennis *********
This is scientifically true. They did a study and found that the happiest part of a trip is actually the anticipation leading up to the trip. People are actually happier before the trip than they are on the trip itself! You always need something to look forward to.

I went to GRCC so lived in your area and I don’t BLAME you for having depression!

Only thing I miss about the PNW is the food… but compared to Thailand the food is nothing

I’m preparing to move back to BKK (grew up there)

Best thing is to plan for future visits! Something to look forward to

Start planning the next trip. Even if it’s 4-5 months away it gives you a specific target to countdown.
