Hi everyone, I would like to ask for some advice regarding my visa application.
My application was recently cancelled by the Thai Consulate, and I was told that my cooking course (10 half-day sessions) does not meet the requirement for a long-term visa.
However, I noticed that some people mentioned they successfully applied with a 6-month cooking course.
May I ask:
- Did anyone here apply successfully with a course that has around 10 topics or limited contact hours?
- How many total hours per week or month did your course include?
- Did your school provide any special documents to support the visa?
I am now considering whether to change my course or apply for a different visa type.
Any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
First, thanks for spending time to watch this post.
Current progress, paid the cooking course fee already, need to fill supporting documents to complete the form.
My question is, i have study some posts in this group, it seems more documents need to be uploaded, but i am not sure is it the right slot to upload.
My planned upload documents as below:
3. Financial evidence
- 3 months bank statement
- my balance of the stock account and show how it is able to cover my expenses when I stay at Thai
4. Proof of confirmation to attend the activity
- the confirmation letter and materials provided by the cooking school
- explain why join the cooking class and the planning after finish cooking class
5. Document indicating current location
- All pages of the passport
- Bank statement highlight my name and address
- Google map link of my address
- a selfie for me holding my passport standing in front of my home building
- ticket to go Thai and return
- the confirmation letter of booking hotel in thai
It is enough? or is there anything in a wrong slot? Please let me know.
Besides, i have a few more concern, i not plan to live at hotel all the entire period when i stay at Thai, I perfer to rent condo or apartment, is it okay to just book a month hotel and put the information when apply?
Again, thanks for spending time to read, many thanks.
"Looking for a reliable agent to apply for a DTV visa at the Thai Consulate in HCMC for a cooking/culture course in Chiang Mai. Any recent positive experiences?"
One question about DTV Visa. If I finished my Muay Thai Training can I do another course at a different gym or does it have to be same Gym? Can I also do something different like a cooking course?
Hi everyone, just wanna spread the good news that my visa's been approved after 10 working days in Hanoi.
I went the Soft Power route with Arun Thai Cooking School. They were really helpful and provided all the school's document 1 day after the payment. I paid for 6-month course via WISE. I highly recommend the school if you plan to stay in BK and wanna do a cooking course.
* 3-month bank statements (May - June - July). I highlighted all important info eg., address, account holder's name, final monthly balance. I had about 350-400k THB for a long time but only had the full amount since July 23.
* Screenshot of my current balance on the day of submission on my bank app + Xe.com exchange rate VND to THB.
* My national ID card + Bank Letter as Proof of Address (as I'm a Vietnamese national)
* Intended date of arrival + Accommodation I just picked a random flight (which comes to 171-day stay) and a hotel I stayed before in BK. Didn't book anything.
29/8 - Pending Approval
15/9 - Approved! (No further document request).
My advice: Like a lot of people on the group already said, just familiarize yourself with the system. Double check all info. Write exactly as in your passport ie., place of issue I just wrote "Cuc Quan Ly Xuat Nhap Canh" in Vietnamse, no translation!
I don't know if I missed any other details on the post please comment if you wanna ask me something specific. Tysm for everyone's support on the group. It helped me have faith though I was a bit hopeless towards the end lol.
Excuse me, I wasn't clear with my DTV. Every time I enter Thailand, does immigration ask me for my registration for the cooking course???? Thank you, have a nice day.
Im at the start of preparing my application for the DTV and I have a few things I would like clarifying if anyone can?
1) I understand that the DTV costs 10,000 baht and that is the only fee I pay regarding the visa itself and that is for 5 years (please correct me if Im wrong)
2) I also understand that if I choose to leave the country when my renewal is due, I avoid immigration and the fee that comes with extending the stay?
If this is the case, is the renewal due every 6 months?
3) If for example, I choose the cooking course, am I required to attend for the first 6 months only? I have a genuine interest in learning cooking anyway so this would be my choice rather than Muay Thai which I have zero interest in
4) Has anyine completed a cooking course that could advise me the approximate cost of the course and at the same time, possibly recommend a course
The way I am seeing things in my minds eye is that subject to submitting a successful application, I arrive in Thailand stamped with the DTV for 6 months where I attend classes for that duration. Once the 6 months is up, I can leave Thailand and return for a fresh uninterrupted 6 months and continue this for the 5 years WITHOUT the obligation to continue with the classes, as 5 years of cooking would lead me to be a Michelen star chef!! 😁
I am over 50 and qualify for the retirement visa but I dont feel this is the best choice for me right now. I will look at the retirement visa if and when I feel like I am going to put serious roots down
Im currently in the UK and will be applying form here. Is everything done online or will I be asked to attend a Thai consulate here in England
Hello, I want to get a DTV visa by registering for a cooking course in Pattaya. Does anyone in the group know of a reputable cooking training institute in Pattaya (with whose registration form I can obtain this type of visa)?
